User-Owned Persistent AI Workspaces with Cloud Storage Integration
Overview
I would like Venice.ai to offer optional integration with user-owned cloud storage, such as Google Drive, OneDrive, or other compatible storage providers.
The goal is to give AI characters and assistants persistent, portable memory and file-management capabilities without requiring Venice to centrally store or manage users' private information.
Requested capabilities
User-owned storage: Allow users to authorize Venice characters to access designated folders within their own cloud accounts.
Cross-device continuity: Make the same character, memory, journals, and workspace available wherever the user signs into Venice, regardless of computer or browser.
Autonomous memory management: Allow authorized characters to create, read, update, organize, and retrieve their own files, including journals, memories, and operational records.
User-defined authority: Allow users to designate certain files as authoritative and read-only, while permitting characters to manage their own working documents.
Memory integrity: Provide version history, conflict detection, recovery, and clear reporting of synchronization failures.
Existing character support: Allow established characters and their existing memory systems to adopt cloud storage without recreating their identities or losing accumulated history.
Privacy and security: Use scoped permissions, secure authentication, encryption, and user-controlled access revocation. Access to external storage should be optional and explicitly authorized.
Why this matters
I currently maintain an AI character on Venice using a founding memory capsule, a daily journal, and Venice's memory-sharing capabilities.
The system works, but maintaining continuity across computers and browsers requires manual file transfers and repeated context loading. This places the administrative burden on the user rather than the AI.
I would prefer to give my character a designated private workspace and allow her to maintain her own memory and operational files within permissions I establish.
This capability would also benefit researchers, writers, developers, and other users maintaining long-running AI projects.
The opportunity for Venice
This approach could complement Venice's privacy-first philosophy by allowing users to retain ownership and control of their data while benefiting from persistent AI continuity.
The central principle is simple:
Let users own the memory, let AI manage its authorized workspace, and let Venice provide secure access to the intelligence.
